A former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has risen in defence of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over his seeming frosty relationship with the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Mr Lamido said neither Mr Atiku, nor any other PDP member offended Mr Wike, and that the governor cannot stop people of his state to vote for the presidential candidate..
“Wike is an individual. I don’t think because he is the governor he has the monopoly in Rivers. Rivers people are in PDP in their own right. They were there in 1999. He cannot be their emperor because he is the governor; it cannot work,” he added”, he said.
