We must standardise agribusiness to compete internationally – Expert

The Director-General of the Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG), Dr Manzo Maigari, has said that for Nigeria to be competitive in agriculture globally, it must comply with global benchmarks for standards and grading.

While speaking in Abuja, during a stakeholders Consultative Workshop, Manzo said, “In modern business and trade today, people want to be sure about certain quality, sanitation, the hygiene of what you are selling, and if they cannot be sure, then you cannot have access to the markets and this is something that does not exist currently in Nigeria.”

The DG added that they are now working with stakeholders of agribusiness both in the public and private sectors, in order to draft a policy that would enable Nigeria compete favourably in Africa and across the world.
