Nigeria’s Supreme Court has on Thursday dismissed the lawsuit challenging the authenticity of Ademola Adeleke’s candidacy in the Osun State Governorship Election.
A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dotun Babayemi, had instituted the suit.
Delivering judgement in the case, Justice Amina Augie ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the suit after counsel for the appellant, Adebayo Adelodun, had withdrawn the earlier notice of appeal that was filed within time.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in July declared Adeleke the winner, after defeating the current governor Oyetola.
