Kashim Shetima, the Vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) appears to have landed himself in hot waters after making a comparison that angered many Nigerians.

Kashim had said that his principal, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is the only candidate with a dose of hospitality like former military ruler, late Sani Abacha. Unwittingly with this comparison, Shetima only succeeded in offering Nigerians window to attack his party.

Nigerians reacted by reminding Shettima that they were in no rush to have “someone like Abacha” as President come 2023. Many have been referring to looted funds recovered from late Head of State, General Sani Abacha in the past 24 years.

The Abacha loot is put at $3.65 billion as revealed by an infographic by the BBC, with data gathered from the federal government, World Bank, and Transparency International.

Shettima has since said he was “misquoted”.
