Serena Williams’s glittering tennis career has almost certainly come to an emotional end after she was beaten in the third round of the US Open in New York.

Williams, who has won the event six times, was defeated at the Arthur Ashe Stadium by Australia’s Ajla Tomljanović in three sets on Friday night.

The superstar broke down in tears as she thanked her mother, Oracene Price, and late father, Richard Williams, for helping her in her legendary 25-year career.
