Scotland becomes the first country in the world to protect the right to free sanitary products with a new legislation that came into force on Monday 15th, 2022.

The Period Products Act stipulates that councils and education providers must make period products free and available to those who need them.

Georgie Nicholson from Hey girls told BBC Radio’s Good Morning Scotland that, Scotland providing free period products was a “really huge” milestone.
