Smart Adeyemi, senator representing Kogi west, says he is proposing a bill to bar the nomination of candidates of the same religion on a joint ticket.
Mr. Adeyemi said this on Sunday at a media briefing in Abuja. He said the bill is much needed in order to safeguard the “fabrics of the nation”.
APC’s decision to field Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, both Muslims, on the same ticket has drawn ire from different corners, both within and outside the party, with many fearing that a dangerous precedent has been set.
