The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) says premium motor spirit (PMS) will cost consumers N462 per litre without the federal government’s subsidy.

This is according to a statement by the NNPCL Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division Mr. Garba Deen Muhammad on Sunday.

The statement came amidst claims that the Buhari administration may end fuel subsidy by 2023. During his campaign prior to coming to office in 2015, Buhari had criticised the payment of subsidy by the federal government.

Some analysts say although removing the subsidy is expedient, doing so will make life for the average Nigerian tougher than it already is.
