Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, has expressed his dissatisfaction over the Federal Government’s objection to the use of arms by the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps. He said this is objectionable given that Katsina State has been given the nod to procure weapons.
The governor, who is chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF), in a statement said, “That Katsina was able to arm its state security force with the display of AK-47 means we are pursuing ‘one country, two systems’ solution to the national question. We want to reiterate, that what is sauce for the goose, is sauce for the gander.”
Incessant incidents of insecurity across Nigeria have caused State Governors to establish State-run security outfit to mitigate the problem.
