Nigerian Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has declared that the National Industrial Court’s order, that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) striking lecturers should return to work, is a violation of due process.

Falana was speaking on Channels TV on Friday. He argued that the Federal Government did not follow the standard procedure of presenting its case before the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP) before referring the matter to the court.

“This is the first time in the history of that court that we have been told that the minister can refer a case to the national industrial court without going through the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP),” Falana said.
Falana, who represents ASUU in the case had said the ruling will be appealed.
