Just in: Court restrains Buhari, NBC from shutting down 53 broadcast stations

A Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) from revoking 53 broadcast stations’ licences and closing down the stations for allegedly not renewing their licences.

Honourable Justice Akintayo Aluko (Court 8) today granted an order of interim injunction following the hearing of an argument on motion exparte by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
