Ten million primary school pupils, enrolled into the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSF), are to be dewormed by the federal government.

 

Sadiya Umar-Farouq, the minister, made the declaration in Kano on Wednesday at the opening of a training of trainers for the implementation of the national deworming and school feeding programme. Speaking through a representative Muhammad Nasiru-Mahmud, Ms Umar-Farouq said the exercise would be implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health.

 

“No matter how you feed the children, if they have worms, they will be sharing the food with the worms, hence the need to deworm them.’’
