The Nigerian Institute of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) has called on the Federal Government to increase their effort in promoting locally developed technologies for the rapid development of the agricultural sector.
NIAE is concerned that the continuous importation of technologies was no longer sustainable in the sector. The institute stated that some of the technologies being imported were not useful to agricultural transformation.
The NIAE held their 22nd International Conference and 42nd Annual General Meeting, in Asaba. The national chairman of NIAE, Prof. Akindele Folarin Alonge said, “There is an urgent need for training, research and investment in agricultural produce value addition and agripreneurship to ensure food and fodder security.”
