About 50 street beggars, mentally challenged people and other destitute persons have been evacuated and rehabilitated by Edo State government, in major streets and markets within Benin metropolis.

They were evacuated in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) axis of Benin City, including Ihama, Boundary and Country Home Roads axis, as well as Sapele Road and Ring Road axis.

The evacuation and rehabilitation is being implemented by Edo State Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, in partnership with security agencies in the state, in line with the ‘Operation Plan Edo.’
