Economists in Nigeria are projecting that the Buhari administration will leave behind more than N60 in debt and other liabilities. Accordingly, the figure could rise to about N65 trillion by the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure in May 2023.
As of June this year, the Federal Government’s debt stood at N35.7 trillion. The amount does not include the Central Bank’s overdrafts estimated at N20.6 trillion at the last count.
In essence, the forecast shows that the Buhari’s administration will be passing over N60 trillion in debt and contingencies to a new administration in May, next year.
