Parents have responded to the announcement by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to extend their strike. The decision was taken after the National Executive Council meeting at the union’s headquarters at the University of Abuja on Monday morning.
Students have been staying put at home for more than six months since the union declared the commencement of the strike.
Reacting to the extension of the strike, Malam Ibrahim Suleiman, whose three children are studying at Bayero University Kano said, “The government is not ready to give in to the demands of ASUU because children of top government officials and politicians are studying overseas. They simply don’t care about children of the poor.”
