The Arewa Consultative Forum has welcomed the stand taken by the Federal Government against airlines in the country selling flight tickets in foreign currencies.
The chairman of the Forum, Chief Audu Ogbeh said in a statement in Kaduna on Thursday that, the group was in support of any stern move aimed at deterring local and foreign airlines transacting business in Nigeria in foreign
currencies.
“No airline wishing any country good should involve itself in sabotaging its economy through dwarfing the value of its currency,” he added.
Airlines in Nigeria had recently started selling air tickets in foreign currencies- especially the US dollar, before the Federal Government waded in to stop the practice- a move pundits believe is necessary in order to maintain the value of what is left of the naira.
