The proposition of the Muslim-Muslim ticket by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidential election is a plan to divide the northern region of Nigeria, Babachir Lawal, former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), has said.
While speaking on ARISE TV, Babachir said that the ticket “is a wicked plan to further create divisions within the north”. He called on “all lovers of unity” to ensure the ticket is defeated so “resounding” that “nobody in his right senses will ever think about it again at least in the near future for our political journey in Nigeria.”
He further insisted that him and Yakubu Dogara are not the only ones involved in the struggle.
APC, the ruling party, fielded Bola Tinubu, as the party’s presidential flag bearer and Kashim Shettima as his running mate, both Muslims.
